Push Play Breaking Up and Twitter Drama!

27 Apr

I hate to say this, but unfortunately, Push Play has officially broken up.  Although a lot of fans have said they were expecting it for months after they were “taking a break”, it wasn’t confirmed until today.  It went down rather intensely with backstabbing and sarcasm on twitter.  From what I read on twitter, it seems that it went a little something like this.  1. Steve tweeted about his new gig with Derek and Nick May 14th at Pat Med Highschool.  (All the music from the new band is up on youtube.com/gangreneclassic) 2. CJ found out about it and took it to the Push Play twitter to announce that Push Play is broken up. 3. The real drama started when Derek and Nick came in to talk about Sue Baran asking the boys to sign papers about CJ’s solo agreement and how the band never took a break because of Derek having to go back to college.  4. As of right now, they are all silent about anything else.  If you want to see exactly what I am talking about, I have posted pictures of the tweets below.  As a promoter of Push Play and a previous fan of their band, I’m so dissappointed in what this has come to.  I knew they were growing apart and that they were taking a break, but I honestly never expected it to come to this.  I saw a change in CJ a while back, but I tried to ignore so i could still remain a fan.  After what happened today, even if they resolve their problem (which I don’t think they will), I won’t be a fan again.  I’ve spent so many hours promoting them, doing orders on their website to help their careers, spending so much money on their concerts, etc.  It just astounds me that it all came out like this.  Leave a comment with your opinion, or better yet, go to Push Play’s Myspace and leave your opinion there!  (Click on the images below  to see them bigger) (more…)

Push Play College Break!

7 Feb

Recently, Push Play’s Management sent out the announcement to Push Play Fans talking about the future of Push Play.  Despite rumors of the band breaking up, they are just taking a break from touring!  Below is the statement released from Push Play Management:

Dear Push Play Fans,

Push Play has some exciting news they want to share with you if you haven’t heard already. Here’s what’s happening. Push Play wants to take some time to get to know their inner strengths. One way of doing this is through education and another is by taking the past experiences and disecting them to see how they can become stronger as a band. As a result, they are taking a BREAK from being Push Play but not breaking up. Derek was awarded a full scholarship to college 2 years ago. He completed 1 year then deferred the scholarship for 1 year to perform with the rest of Push Play fulltime and tour nationally. He has to use it or lose it so he’s going back to school to complete his education. Nick and Steve’s one year of deferment from college is now up so they went back to college last week. They are taking courses now so that they can get their degree and balance Push Play. CJ also deferred college but has decided to instead throw himself into songwriting and production and hone his skills as a performer. Fancorps will continue to exist and tasks will continue to be posted during their break. The Push Play myspace, facebook and twitters will remain active and the guys will continue to connect while on their break. They still have 2 performances on the tour calendar left: School of Rock in Hackensack, NJ on Feb 13 and Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY on Feb 20 for PopCon. They hope to see as many familiar and new faces as possible at these last 2 shows before they take their break! So get your tix today! We’d hate for you to miss out on either of these performances! Long live Push Play!

Sincerely,

Push Play Management
